Columbus, Ohio: While More Elderly Homes Are Being Targeted, This Couple Used A New Security Device That Had The Burglar Running Scared

The investigation continues into a burglary that almost turned tragic.

Tom and Sarah, a 68 and 72 year old couple from San Francisco, California, are lucky to be alive after two masked intruders smashed windows with crowbars and entered their home in the middle of the night. The intruders took a safe containing about ten thousand dollars in cash and a few jewelry items with sentimental value. They fled the scene in the victim’s car, which police later found abandoned several miles away on the side of the street.

The investigation continues, police say, because as of now there are no suspects in the case. In the month of March alone, hundreds of burglaries have been reported.

The disturbing trend: all of these burglaries seem to be targeted attacks of the elderly.

“We’ve been seeing this a lot more recently,” Sheriff Ron Dowling said. “Unfortunately the elderly are easy targets for crimes of this nature. They usually don’t have the proper security systems in place to protect themselves, and these criminals know that.”

In light of the rising number of home burglaries, police are now emphasizing that people, especially the elderly, make home security a higher priority. It doesn’t always have to cost an arm and a leg to set up, either.

“Even something as simple as a security camera, or a couple of security cameras, will make a big difference. Putting a couple of them up around your home, it’s the easiest and most effective way to prevent burglaries. Of course, you want to be careful—some manufacturers are subpar in terms of quality, and some are even rip-offs that charge monthly subscription fees that end up costing thousands of dollars over a lifetime. I personally recommend the PrimeGuard Security Camera on my own home.” – Sherrif Ron Dowling.

PrimeGuard has quickly become America’s most popular security camera. It has captured the market due to its quality, affordability and most of all, is one of the only security cameras that DON’T charge their customers a monthly subscription fee. Where home security was previously reserved for the wealthy, PrimeGuard has made it their mission to make home security accessible to the average, hard working American.

What Is It And How Does It Work?

PrimeGuard is a wireless security camera that is the perfect solution for anyone who wants the safety and convenience of a security system without the expense of professional installation or security monitoring services. PrimeGuard uses advanced PIR technology (passive infrared) to turn on and record when it detects motion. This actually saves on power consumption and data storage—it’s only on when it needs to be. The best part—the camera automatically alerts you on your phone when the camera detects motion (potential burglars, package thieves, or just the delivery man dropping off a package). An additional feature, PrimeGuard comes with a button you can activate from your phone that sounds off an alarm from the camera device, which can scare a burglar away!

PrimeGuard is equipped with a 1000mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, records in full 1080p straight to an SD card or to the cloud and…it’s wireless: get the video feed directly on your phone, tablet or computer! The camera body is made from high-impact material that makes it waterproof, heatproof, and able to withstand all kinds of weather conditions like rain or snow. It has a staggering 3-MONTH operating life span between charges, and with a 120 degree viewing angle and a visible range of 50 feet, the coverage area is more that sufficient.

But…Is It Really Worth All This Hype?

So far, the PrimeGuard Wireless Security Camera has sold over 9 million units directly to consumers, even without the help of being sold in stores. The PrimeGuard Security Camera has been SELLING OUT every time new stock becomes available, it’s become THAT popular.

And, it’s all from word of mouth. People just like you are loving it so much that they’re posting about it on instagram and telling everyone they know about it!

The PrimeGuard Security Camera has started to develop a cult following, and with over 5,000 5-star reviews, it makes sense. Here’s what customers are saying about it:

I am using this self-contained camera on a tree and a light post facing toward the home. It is excellent for checking on the home exterior when away or to be alerted of visitors. The lack of wires makes this whole thing work, it's great!

Justice Finally Served…

Being traumatized by the first home invasion, Tom and Sarah immediately took the advice of the police and got a security camera. They didn’t have a lot of money to invest in a high-end system with 24-hour monitoring, so they decided to get the PrimeGuard because it was affordable and it had no monthly fees.

Once it was installed they felt much safer and could sleep better at night. Things were quiet for a while…until 5 months later when the suspects returned.

Only this time, Tom and Sarah now had a few PrimeGuard Cameras set up all around their house. Before the crowbars could contact the windows, the backdoor security camera alerted them through the app that motion was detected outside their house. When Tom opened the alert, he saw the robbers were back for more.

“As soon as I saw him on our camera, I triggered the alarm, and he ran off so fast, just like the gutless coward he is.” Tom said. “Luckily, I had footage of the man’s face and I gave it to the cops right away.”

The police found the suspect 10 minutes later less than a mile up the street and arrested him.

Due to the increase in home break-ins, police are recommending residents set up home security cameras like PrimeGuard to help prevent break-ins.

My Personal Experience

Even though I wouldn’t consider myself “elderly,” I was interested in this because one of my neighbor’s homes got broken into and I was scared mine could be next. I decided to get the PrimeGuard for my own home as a preventative measure. I got on the official website and ordered two of them, one for my backyard and one for my front porch. The cameras arrived in just 2 days.

The installation was ridiculously simple, even for a guy with no handyman experience like myself. You can literally be up and running in under 5 minutes:

  1. Mount the camera in your desired location: There were 2 options. Use the magnetic bracket it comes with to install it on magnetic surfaces, or for a sturdier option, you can use a simple punch bracket and then affix the camera to it. I went with the magnetic bracket, and it was more than strong enough to hold. It's completely wireless so you don't have to deal with messy wiring or connections.
  2. Download the app that controls the camera: It took less than 30 seconds

Once everything was up and running, I could clearly see a full view of my backyard and my front porch by just opening the app on my phone!

Here is the view that my PrimeGuard camera captures in my backyard:

Five days later I was at work and I got an alert on my phone. The new laptop I ordered a few days ago had just come in, so I knew I had something to look forward to when I got home…until a few minutes later when I got an alert message from my PrimeGuard. I opened the alert and got a live feed from my camera, and I was shocked by what I saw. Some dude just walking on to my front porch about to steal MY package, and I could see him CLEAR AS DAY!

Before the package thief could get away, I pressed the alarm button in the app which triggered the alarm. It must have freaked him out because he dropped the package immediately and just bolted! Thanks to PrimeGuard, I was able to avoid my new laptop getting stolen, which makes the purchase of PrimeGuard worth it many times over. Plus, now I have peace of mind that my packages and my home will be better protected from thieves and burglars. I’ve been so impressed with the function and quality of this simple product, I decided to order 2 more for the other sides of my house so that I could have full surveilance all around my home.

It has a two-way audio system, so even if I’m not home, I can talk to people on the front porch. I know a guy who paid a lot more than I did for a fancy security system just to have this feature!

We had a weather system move in about a month after I installed the second PrimeGuard, and I admit I was a little nervous, but when I came out to check on it the next day, it was totally unaffected. I remembered it was supposed to be IP65 waterproof, and having seen in sustain high winds and a torrential downpour, I’d say it really is! The best part about the PrimeGuard is how low-maintenance it is: I didn’t have to charge it until 3 months after I initially installed it!

How Much Does It Cost?

At $100, I thought it was well worth the price. A lifetime of security monitoring for the cost of 1 month of service with an overpriced security monitoring company.

Is It Worth It?

It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for the PrimeGuard security camera. It’s made me feel in control of my own home safety. I know burglars would think twice before hitting my house, because they’ll be filmed. The added security to the front and back of my house has given me a great deal of confidence. To me, the peace of mind is priceless.

My daughter had a baby shower, and I knew the perfect gift to get her. I gave her the PrimeGuard Camera, and she had her husband install it as a baby monitor! They love it just as much as I love mine—it’s made a huge difference in our lives, and I can’t recommend PrimeGuard enough. I bought a few more units to complete my home security system for a fraction of the cost of those ‘high-end’ security-monitoring services, and I’m feeling safe and secure for the foreseeable future.
